( Μου μοιάζει τόσο δύσκολο το να γράψω ένα τελευταίο κείμενο για αυτό το Blog, για αυτές τις εκπομπές και γενικώς για το Captain and Fin . )

Knock On Mute 

 Τέλη Φλεβάρη 2011. Captain and Fin . Διάρκεια 2 ώρες, κάθε Τρίτη από τις 12 μέχρι και τις 2 και ίσως λιγάκι παραπάνω μερικές φορές, στην Ιντερνετική συχνότητα του IndiegroundRadio. Αρχικά εκπομπές χωρίς καθόλου ροή. Ανισορροπία μεταξύ  των μουσικών επιλογών. Indie --> Punk Rock --> Acoustic --> Hardcore etc.  Τα άπλυτά μας στη φόρα. Γέλια, μπύρες, μερική μιζέρια . Κάποια ανεπιτυχή αφιερώματα σε είδη που αγαπάμε (Post Rock π.χ.)  Υπόγειο διαμέρισμα μεταμορφωμένο σε Στούντιο. Περιοχή Εξάρχεια. Μηδαμινή επαφή με τους υπόλοιπους παραγωγούς του σταθμού. Πολύ λίγα χρήματα, κατά συνέπεια σχεδόν καθόλου συναυλίες άρα και εκπομπές χωρίς ρεπορτάζ σχετικό με Live. Πρώτο καλοκαίρι. Ήδη, περίπου 20 εκπομπές στο τσεπάκι μας. Κλειστός σταθμός για αρκετό διάστημα. Διάλειμμα και μετακόμιση. Σεπτέμβρης 2011. Καινούριο Στούντιο. 3ος όροφος πλέον. Βάψιμο εγκαταλελειμμένου διαμερίσματος στην περιοχή του Συντάγματος. Καλύτερη γνωριμία με τους συμπαραγωγούς. Μερεμέτια, άνοιγμα και πάλι εκπομπές. Περισσότερη ενασχόληση με την εκπομπή. Καλύτερη προετοιμασία. Δημιουργία αυτού του Blog. Δυνατό ξεκίνημα. Dj Set κυρίως από την Captain στον Μικρόκοσμο, στα πλαίσια των πάρτυ που διοργάνωνε ο σταθμός.  Πρώτη απόπειρα συνέντευξης . Planet of Zeus @ Knock On Mute. Καταπληκτική εμπειρία. Σπινθήρας για δημιουργία ακολουθίας συνεντεύξεων. Κάποιες εκπομπές ακόμη ως Captainandfin. Πρόταση από τον αγαπημένο Αλέξανδρο του Dunkel Bar  να αναλάβουμε τα Decks για μία ολόκληρη βραδιά. Πρώτο Dj Set Captainandfin @ Dunkel. Φοβερή επιτυχία. Περάσαμε αξέχαστα. Συνέχεια εκπομπών . Δεύτερη συνέντευξη. Οι Plastic Flowers στο στούντιο του Indieground. Πάροδος του χρόνου. Αλλαγές στις προσωπικές μας ζωές. Εμφάνιση εμποδίων / ευκαιριών. Αναγκαία κατάταξη αναγκών και επιθυμιών σε επίπεδα. 2ο Dj Set @ Dunkel . Μέτρια επιτυχία.

Fin Meets Dustin Lovelis From The Fling (Band) : Interview

Hey Stella,

Sorry we are really busy writing and recording.  Here are your answers.  I answered them while driving to work so please forgive grammar and spelling errors.  Thanks.

 

 

1)Write a Sentence to inroduce the band to someone who doesn't know you.

We are The Fling from Long Beach, CA.  

 

2)When and How did the Band Form?

I had known most of the guys from other local bands.  Graham(bass) is my brother.  I moved to Long Beach to put a band together and things just sort of fell into place eventually.  We have been around for a little over 4 years.

 

3)Why "The Fling"? What does the name of the band represent? 

The Fling was the name of my dads band around 79-83.  He started a family and quit music.  We are just taking over where he left of.  Family business of sorts.

 

4)How you would describe your sound?

Really really really...fun.

 

5)Which are your influences?

Multiple choice? Guided By Voices, Elliott Smith, The Pixies, Graham Parsons to name a few.

 

6)Does your origin play a role to the music you're writing? Which role?

Yeah Graham and I are definitely influenced by our parents' records.  Mamas and Papas, Everly Brothers ect.  A lot of harmonies.  

 

7)Describe the funniest thing happened during a rehearsal and a live show.

We played in drag on a recent tour.  Got to wear dresses and wigs.

 

8)Which was your best live show so far and why?

Getting to play The Metro in Chicago was pretty surreal.  

 

9)Is it peculiar to have your brother in the band? How do the other members confront this kind of relationship in the band?

We all get along just fine.  Being related doesn't really change the dynamic if the band too much.  

 

10)Is the band your main occupation?

Time wise, yes.  

 

11)Are you making your Living from the Band?If not what else are you doing in your lifes?

No.  I work construction.  Everyone has jobs while we are home.  

 

11)You have released two Ep's and an Album so far.Any plans for a Second Album?

Yeah we have about 30 songs right now.  Just trying to narrow it down to an album.  We will most likely release 2 records this year if everything goes according to plan.

Αφού τελείωσαν τις ηχογραφήσεις του επερχόμενου album τους επισκέπτονται το studio του indieground radio για να μας το παρουσιάσουν αλλά και να μας ταξιδέψουν για 2 ώρες μερικές δεκαετίες πίσω. Ειλικρινά έχω χαρεί πάρα πολύ για αυτή τη συνέντευξη γιατί το είδος που παίζουν οι Thriller δεν το έχω "μελετήσει" σχεδόν καθόλου. Μου έστειλαν απλώς 2 από τα κομμάτια του καινούριου τους Album και μου άρεσε πολύ ο ήχος τους και  έτσι αποφασίσαμε να έρθουν στο στούντιο για την παρουσίαση του δίσκου αλλά και για να τους γνωρίσουμε και να συζητήσουμε μαζί τους, σε νηφάλια κατάσταση.
